Exhibitions of Living Art:

Military Government laws prohibited public exhibitions of works of political offenders. In the licensing of art exhibitions, MFA/A therefore was responsible for screening the list of exhibitors for past political behaviour. Internal Loot: Summary

It has been the policy of MFA/A not to initiate investigations on its own concerning the recovery of internal loot. This question has been regulated by legislation which was expected to be enforced by German authorities. From his experience on the field, this officer feels induced to state his belief that this problem is being widely mishandled and ignored. No serious effort appears to be made by the authorities to recover such material with the result that large values are still in the hands of those who obtained them in many cases by outright criminal acts ...
