Toronto, Ontario. M5H 2S8

The African Canadian Legal Clinic (ACLC) is a non-profit organization whose main focus is to address anti-Black racism.
The ACLC is set up to address systemic racism and racial discrimination in Ontario through test case litigation (a strategy allowing a case to be presented showing that an existing law is unfair.)*
Much attention is paid to legislative changes, regulatory, administrative and judicial developments.

The ACLC was a key player in forming community coalitions and advocating on behalf of the African Canadian community on key issues such as
-the Civilian Oversight of Police
-Police Violence
-Immigration Detention.

As a community based legal agency, there are many services the ACLC provide for African-Canadians, such as
-confronting government policies that affect the African Canadian community
-representing the African-Canadian community in cases that are previously brought before the courts and administrative tribunals.
-assist in public education and bring attention towards racial discrimination that exists in Canada

Currently, there are no services available for individuals, but much effort is given to guide individuals to appropriate service agencies.

The African Canadian Legal Clinic is an important and necessary part of the African-Canadian community for numerous reasons. It provides the courts and other legal systems an opportunity to understand the standpoint of the African Canadian community on issues such as systemic and institutional discrimination. This organization is set up to assist the African Canadian community with their ongoing legal struggles.

If anyone is interested in learning more about ACLC or volunteering their services, please contact the ACLC at 416-214-4747
