AK/ADMS 3530.03 - Rules About Assignments, Including Lateness

RULES REGARDING WRITTEN ASSIGNMENT SUBMISSIONS

Assignments are due at the start the class on the date stated. They must be neat. Please observe the following rules and guidelines:

  1. Textual portions of the company assignments must be typed and double-spaced. This does not include variables, labels and brief notes of explanation.
  2. Use only one side of the page – two-sided pages can get very messy to read. Use 8½  x 11 paper only. Paper larger than that makes handling the assignment difficult and adds wear and tear to the briefcase. Do not use report covers. While they can make the report prettier, they add bulk and weight to the pile of assignments. Additionally, we are marking the contents, not the cosmetics. Staple your assignment (top left corner) prior to handing it in. Standard paper clips and folded corners do not hold up well in a large pile of assignments and will not be accepted.
  3. There will be a standard title page that must be used for each assignment posted on the course website.
  4. Spelling and grammar will affect your marks.
  5. Faxed and emailed assignments are not accepted for classroom sections.

LATE ASSIGNMENTS

There will be a penalty for assignments handed in late. The penalties will not be assigned on each assignment, but only at the end of the course when the total amount of lateness will be tallied.

Lateness is measured in units of a week. If an assignment is a few hours late, that is counted the same as a week late. There are no exceptions to this.

Due to the fact that individual workload and employment demands may vary, the first incidence of lateness will not be penalized – everybody gets one "free" late submission. It is not necessary for you to inform us about lateness, the markers will keep track of the lateness.

The impact of the lateness penalty will not be reflected on the grades on the individual assignments that you get back. The penalty per week of lateness is one mark per week for your aggregate assignment marks. For example, a student with three weeks of lateness, will have two of these count. Their assignment grade will be reduced by multiplying by the factor 28/30.

Under no circumstances will assignments be accepted after Thursday, August 5.
