Alumnus and current student David Mayer swaps roles with President Shoukri for a day

On Feb. 26, David Mayer (BA '12) managed the institution, attended all of the president’s meetings and took care of his many other obligations. That same day, President Shoukri attended Mayer’s classes and participated in his many extracurricular activities to really appreciate student life.

Koerner Speaker Series

The inaugural Koerner Speaker Series in Neotropical Conservation will feature a talk given by Costa Rica’s Minister of Culture and Youth Manuel Obregon

Costa Rica’s Minister of Culture and Youth Manuel Obregon, a renowned jazz pianist and composer, will perform and talk about the relationship between culture and conservation in Costa Rica at the inaugural Koerner Speaker Series in Neotropical Conservation on April 2.

Former prime minister of Canada Paul Martin will be one of a slate of well-known people, including author and York alumnus Joseph Boyden, to speak at the upcoming Encounters in Canada: Contrasting Indigenous and Immigrant Perspectives conference in May. Alumni are invited to attend. » More

Research will work to prevent child and youth injuries, bridging the gaps between research, policy and practice

Injuries are the leading cause of death among children and youth in Canada and also result in serious disability. A new project led by York University Professor Alison Macpherson will help to bridge the gaps between research, policy and child injury prevention.
