Lately, our mascot Yamako has been feeling kind of lonely, so let us give her a pet!
Design YAMA a second mascot, an familiar companion for Yamako.
The familiar can be anything: animal, robot, spirit, spirit of a robotic animal, etc.
Optionally, add little story to your familiar to make it more interesting.
In-person submission deadline is Thursday March 7 2013. Please give it to a YAMA executive.
Email submission deadline is Friday, March 8 2013, 11:59pm to Joseph using xalphaxomegax@hotmail.com.
There will be two winners: Executive's Choice and People's Choice.
Executive's Choice is chosen by the executive team before the winner announcement date.
The winner will have his/her design be our new mascot companion.
Winner of Executive's Choice will not eligible for People's Choice.
People's Choice winner is done by voting of the showing attendees of Thursday March 14 2013.
Two winners will be announce on March 14 2013 during showing and will receive an art set each.

Yama will be holding a Pokemon Tournament next month, on Friday March 8. The tournament will consist of games of Pokemon Black/White and/or Pokemon Black 2 and White 2. The rules are Here
Participation in the tournament requires the payment of a fee of $6.00 for YAMA members, $7.50 for non-members. On the day of the price increases by $1.50 at the door (meaning that the price is $7.50 for members and $9.00 for non-members
respectively).
The prizes for this event are BestBuy gift-cards $20 for 1st, $10 for second, and
$5 for 3rd.

Anime North, Canada's premier fan run Anime convention, will be held on May 24 -
26, 2013.
This week, we'll be selling tickets on:
Monday, February 4 in the Clubroom (Bethune, Room 113) from 2:30 p.m. to 4:00
p.m.
Thursday, February 7 in the Paul Delaney Gallery (Bethune, Room 320) 5:30 p.m.
to 9:00 p.m.
To register you in our AN group we'll need :
- Your Name
- An E-mail address that you use frequently (since your AN ticket will be
e-mailed to you)
- $47.25 IN FULL
We are also willing to register any family members or friends who are interested
in going to AN; simply bring their money and required info on their behalf.
The final day we will be selling tickets is Thursday, February 28 2013.

Season 4 of Yama's "You Think You Can Brawl" has come to us. This event is open to all, but there is a participation cap of 32 people. The entry fee for this event is $5 for YAMA members and $7 for Non-Members(a $1.50 surcharge applies if you do not register before the event).
The prizes for this event are BestBuy giftcards $70 for 1st, $40 for second, and $30 for 3rd.

We're kicking off our Winter Term social outings with a good ol' karaoke event!
We'll meet at the Clubroom (Room 113) at 5:00 p.m. and are heading close to
Finch Station. We will have dinner in the area first then head into the karaoke
joint.

Switching things up with American 3D animation with a movie outing to see Wreck-It Ralph! As usual, we'll meet up in the Yama Clubroom (Bethune, Room 113) before heading to the movie theatre.

The cost for a table is $0 for members and $3 for non members.
Anything anime, manga, gaming, cards, artwork etc. (Anything within nerd culture) may be sold.
Art comissions are accepted.
Sellers are expected to arrive no less than 30 minutes in advance of the market opening for setup.
Sellers are responsible for thier own table throughout the entire event.

YAMA Halloween cosplay contest
This is pretty straight forward event, Show up in cosplay and you could win Prizes and candy.
Votes will go down during the break in showing.
Prizes and candy will be awarded.
(Also halloween showing all members are encouraged to bring/share candy)

Place: Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre
Time: 7:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.
Anime North is hosting their annual Halloween and Doujika Festival! The
Halloween event is more than just a dance. With dealers tables, crafting
activities, game shows and cafe treats, the event is a guaranteed to be a night
of fun!
General Admission is $10, but JCCC and AN2012 members can score tickets for $8
apiece! More information on the event can be found on Anime North's Official

A lot of our Yama members have been going to this event for a couple of years
now!
We'll be leaving the clubroom as a group at 5:30 p.m. and heading to the JCCC.
For the first 20 people to RSVP, YAMA will subsidize your participation. We'll pay $8 of your admission fee, so either bring an AN2012 badge or $2 to cover the difference and we'll also pay TTC fare to get to the event! (But not back.)

Our Yama Executives will be meeting people in the clubroom (Bethune Room 113)
for a downtown trip to Japan Foundation! We will be leaving the clubroom at 4:30pm SHARP so don't be late :P
Japan Foundation have opened up their facilities for us for a exclusive tour. We
will be taking the 196 TTC to Downsview Station and then the subway up to Museum
Station. From there it is just a short walk to 131 Bloor St. West, Suite 213.
At 5:30PM we will be given a private tour of their library and also the current
art exhibit being shown. Then at 7:00PM we have a opportunity to watch a
screening of a "The Place Promised in Our Eyes" directed by Makoto Shinkai who
made "5 Centimetres Per Second." We will arrange to get food after the tour.
The first 15 people who RSVP to Mike Rowan will get one (1)
subsidized TTC token courtesy of the club. This is subject to change.

Whether you're a newbie to the world of conventions or feeling withdrawal from
the con magic, Yama's here to give you your geeky fix! YAMA is organizing a
group to attend Unplugged Expo next Saturday and Sunday, September 22nd and
23rd.
If members register through YAMA, they will pay the group rate price of $10.00
for the weekend. Considering it's $20.00 to buy at the door, an RSVP can save
you 10 bucks that you could be using at the con!
The convention is located at the Primrose Hotel in Downtown Toronto. Check out

That's right- our first outing! Genji Sushi is an affordable sushi restaurant
and a personal favourite among our Yama Exec Team. It's not too far from campus
and delicious to boot.
Our Yama Executives will be meeting people in the Yama clubroom (Bethune Room
113) @5:30 p.m. and walking to Genji Sushi for dinner.

As you might have summized, Yama is having a summer showing :D!. As always, it will start at 5pm and run until 10pm. Like during the year there will be a break around the middle in order to let people grab food aswell as get up and stretch.
This is a special showing, and thus you do not need to have a active membership in order to come, so New or Old, you are welcome to come, heck bring a friend if you like :).

It is finally here, Yama's long awaited beach episode is upon us!, if you remember the email you likly know whats going down, if not heres a refresher. For those of you that would prefer to meet at York we will be meeting at 9:00am at the clubroom and be taking the ttc down by 9:30am sharp, so if you are comming to the clubroom don't be late. If you are going directly there should be an exec there by 11:00am.
If you do plan on comming please RSVP with the event coordinator Mike, we would prefer to know how many people are going to show up.
One thing to note though is that you must be prepared to feed yourself, there are alot of food venders nearby on Queen St, also be sure to bring lots o water as its shaping up to be a scorcher.
Remember, Only you can prevent starvation and dehydration.
