Welcome to this mini course and good luck!
On the first day we talked about the classification and characteristics of SNe.
There are Type Ia supernovae which are thermonuclear explosions of white dwarfs. They originate
in binary systems where a white dwarf accretes material from a larger star or even cannibalizes another
white dwarf in the system. Click here for some of the latest news.
Then there are Type Ib/c, Type IIp, Type IIn and Type IIb, all of them core collapse explosions of
massive stars.
