Bethune College is looking for an Academic Advisor. The appointment is normally for a three-year term, renewable annually, and begins July 1, 2010.
The academic advisor is expected to:
- advise students
- coordinate the SOS academic peer advising program
- coordinate the Bethune Writing Centre
- coordinate Bethune courses
- spearhead a Supplemental Instruction initiative within the college and residence
- assist the Master with Academic Orientation and other academic initiatives
- spend, on average,15 hours/week on the above responsibilities
The position is open to Tenure-track faculty and CUPE Unit II members. Faculty members receive a full-course release and a $3,640 yearly stipend. CUPE members will receive $15K/year. Candidates should have an interest in, and knowledge of, undergraduate education at York and be conversant with the mandate of the college, which includes supporting affiliate units, namely the Faculty of Science and Engineering, and the School of Kinesiology and Health Science.
