Proteomics Facility

Center for Research in Mass Spectrometry
Core Facility
York University
Directed by Dr. K. W. Michael Siu (Distinguished Research Professor)

The Proteomics facility at York University has been created under the auspices of the Centre for Research in Mass Spectrometry (CRMS) and has been set up with the aim of facilitating research both within the York community as well as in the academic community at large.

While the facility provides basic "fee-for-service" type work for the academic community, in keeping with the CRMS mandate it also actively promotes and seeks mutually beneficial research collaborations. The proteomics analyses provided are intended to complement the analyses provided by the DNA branch of Core Molecular Biology Facility.

The Proteomics Facility currently comprises two dedicated full time employees and draws on the collective research experience of a number of post-doctoral fellows and PhD students from Professor K W Michael Siu's group.

The facility has a suite of mass spectrometric instruments and new instruments are constantly being acquired to ensure that the facility remains state-of-the-art. The combination of instruments and expertise that the facility can access permits us to undertake research projects that require a great deal of flexibility and expertise during analysis. The various links on this page provide a brief description of some of the facility's instruments and the people involved.
