Help

1. I get a message that reads "The page cannot be found" when I try to open the workshop.

The most likely reason for this is that you are trying to open the workshop in Netscape rather than Internet Explorer. Open up Explorer on your computer, then cut and paste the url of the workshop into the location window of Explorer.

2. I can open the workshop, but the screen just says that it is initialising, but the workshop doesn't start.

The most likely reason for this is that you are trying to open the workshop in Netscape rather than Internet Explorer. Open up Explorer on your computer, then cut and paste the url of the workshop into the location window of Explorer.

3. I can't see any video in the video window.

You may not have the current version of Windows Media Player installed. Please view the "Tech Requirements" section of te CyberGuide to download a current version of Media Player.

4. I have Windows Media Player, but the system is telling me that I don't.

In Netscape, you must first install Netscape then Windows Media Player. Otherwise, the system won't recognize that you have the player.

5. I can access the video stream, but not the PowerPoint slides.

This happens when you are using a Macintosh computer. In January, you will be able to use your Mac to view the workshops, but until then, you will need to use a PC - check your college for computer labs available for York students.

6. I can access the workshop, but the video stream keeps freezing.

Because you are accessing the workshops over the Internet, the smoothness of the video stream is dependant on the bandwidth available through your service provider. During heavy traffic times, the available bandwidth will be less, so try again during off-peak periods. You should be able to hearing the workshop and access the slides and handout regardless of the video quality.

7. The type on the PowerPoint slide is too small for me to read.

In the bottom right corner of the slide screen is a small + sign. Click on the to increase the size of the slide image.
