BAS Honours HR, Administrative Studies, Atkinson College, York University
When I was in high school I knew I wanted to study business, but I had very little idea of what my options were at the time. After my first year of university I spent the summer working in a human resources department and it was such a great experience that I decided to change my degree specialization from finance to human resources, much to my parents' frustration. While finishing my degree, I tried to get as much work and volunteer experience as possible and following graduation; I worked in human resources with Telus Mobility and Toromont CAT, and spent my spare time feeding my passion for traveling. Since my return to York, I've held roles as an Administrative and Executive Officer, pursued my MBA and continued my traveling adventures. I've also recently taken on an exciting new role as Director of the York University Career Centre. My focus in this role is on building relationships and leading a great team, as we work to connect students with opportunities and support them in their career exploration and job search. We're fortunate to have the opportunity to make a difference in student's lives and I think that's a pretty incredible way to spend my days!

Haremar Plastic Manufacturing
Alumna: Bachelor of Human Resources Management, York University (2006)
My motivation each day is knowing that what I do impacts all 100 employees in my workplace and how they feel about their work, the place they spend the majority of their waking hours. They know I stand for what is legal and what is right. I am involved in all aspects of HR: health & safety, training, benefits, recruitment, administration, employee relations, compensation, policies & procedures and coaching. There is never a dull moment, I am continually learning and frequently challenged. Balancing the needs of the people and business is a tough job, but someone has to do it.

I always knew I wanted to work with people and had planned to do that with a career in law. As I approached graduation, I decided instead of pursing law, I would venture to find my place in the work world. I pursued an opportunity in recruitment and found something I was very passionate for. I have worked in Recruitment and Selection with Edward Jones for the last 12 years.
