Exam & Test Accommodations

New Students

You must be registered with LDS and participate in an initial interview before any exam/test accommodations can be made. Accommodations may include: extended time to complete tests/exams, the use of a word guide or computer SpellCheck, or others as deemed necessary. Contact your Advisor at LDS for more information.

To register with LDS, you will need to submit a psychoeducational report that has been completed within five years of your start date at York University. Reports completed prior to this will be reviewed and tentative accommodations may be made, but it is likely that you will need to have an updated assessment in order for the academic accommodations to remain in effect.

Returning Students

If there are no changes to your accommodation needs, you can submit your request for Letters of Accommodation by filling in the Letter of Accommodation Form which will allow the office to directly generate your letters of accommodation. They will be ready for pick up within a few days. You can set an appointment with your counselor for later in the term to touch base if you like. Make an appointment with your LDS Counselor to discuss your current needs and update your file if there are changes to your accommodation needs.

The scheduling of alternate exams and tests is handled by the Registrar’s Office.

For more information and to access the new online Alternate Exam and Test Scheduling Request Form visit the alternate exam and test scheduling Web site at www.yorku.ca/altexams.
