Social Support
List-serve
Are you currently enrolled at York and registered with the MHDS? If yes and you would like to join the MHDS list-serve, please contact your disability counsellor. To maintain the privacy of all list-serve users, messages are sent to undisclosed recipients. The list-serve is not a chat-line, but rather is a quick and effective means of sharing information relevant to your educational experience on campus.
CDS/MHDS Groups
Establish social support systems early in the term, such as:
- Peer group workshops through MHDS.
- Groups for all York students through the CDS (Counselling & Disability Services)
Student Leadership Program (SLP) at MHDS
The SLP program is for students registered with MHDS. Upper level students who themselves are part of MHDS are hired to mentor incoming students or students returning after an extended absence. Your student leader arranges to meet with you on a regular basis during the term to help familiarize you with services and resources on campus and provide you with encouragement and support in a less formal setting than the MHDS office.
There are a limited number of student leaders each year, however, so it is a good idea to let the MHDS staff know early in the academic year if you are interested in this program.
