Memory, Truth and Justice Week of Awareness and Remembrance March 24th to April 1st, 2006 Activities Program Revised March 25/06 Friday, March 24, 2006 OISE Hall of the Second Floor 6:30pm Poesía Diaria / Everyday Poetry by Argentinean artist Virginia Giannoni: a display of obituaries in memory of the Disappeared. This art exhibit will be on display from Friday, March 24 to Friday, March 31, 2006. It includes an interactive translation workshop based on the obituaries coordinated by American translator Joan Lindgren. The workshop will allow the active participation of university, high school Canadian students, and public in general. For additional details on the films please click here Monday, March 27 - 8:30pm The Young Center for the Performing Arts - 55 Mill Street (corner of Cherry and Mill Streets) - Building 49 Theatre: A play about the Mothers of Plaza de Mayo A drama by local playwright Alisa Palmer will be presented by the author. The work has received the Chalmers Awards for Creative and Excellence in the Arts, Ontario Arts Council, 1994. Admission fee: donation only Friday, March 31, 2006 OISE/UT Room 2214 6:30-10:00pm Survivors of the coup in Toronto - Documentary Premiere - Free Admission The Revenge of the Apple, a documentary on survivors of the Coup who came to Toronto. A public debate will follow the screening. Marta Marín, the director, in collaboration with Hugo De Marinis, will participate in this event. A documentary based on a Rodolfo Walsh letter to the Military Junta will be shown in the first part of the evening. 6.30 pm The Triple A are the Armed Forces - 1978. Directed by Cine de la Base. Saturday April 1, 2006 Steelworkers Hall - 25 Cecil St., Toronto 6:30-10:30pm - Admission $10 Popular Music Concert & Exhibition The concert will feature Latin American & Canadian folk music, a musical multi-media presentation, and a tango theatre presentation. An exhibition of crafts and books produced by Argentinean political prisoners will be on display. Also historical documents showing Canadian solidarity with Argentina, and documents from Grandmothers of May Square will be exhibited.
