Blackberry Service

Description

University Information Technology (UIT) provides a range of Blackberry services based on RIM’s Blackberry Enterprise Server.  The services offered are as follows:

  • Lotus Notes wireless email
  • Calendaring
  • Address Book maintenance

Who can use this service

  • York faculty and instructors
  • Administrative staff

Service Details

Features

  • Blackberry Enterprise based services can only be configured to access a single Lotus Notes account
  • Email messages and Calendar scheduling are delivered to Blackberry device almost instaneously
  • Emails can be viewed embedded with Web links, inclusive of images, page layout and text formatting
  • Blackberry device is synchronized with information within the individual’s address book

Availability

  • Blackberry service is available 24 X 7, except during maintenance outages
  • Individual Blackberry device issues or maintenance are provided during regular work hours, between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM

Charges

  • There are no charges associated with the Blackberry Enterprise service.

  • Monthly charges apply to the Blackberry device for cellular and data usage and quotes can be obtained by contacting UIT Telecom Services at telecom@yorku.ca
