WebAcadlabs is a new UIT web service that enables remote access to many applications in labs and Libraries. This service requires an Acadlabs account.

WebAcadlabs is available through any computer which meets the requirements below:

Windows 2000SP4/XP/2003SP1/Vista,
Internet Explorer 6.x/7 with ActiveX controls enabled or Firefox 2.x or Netscape 8.x, ICA client for Windows

A.  How to connect using Microsoft Windows

Using Internet Explorer

Using Firefox or Netscape

  1. When prompted to detect the client, click on "Detect Client".
  2. Follow the on screen instructions to download and install the ICA client.
  3. Follow the on screen instructions to complete the installation.
  4. Once the installation is complete, click on Successful.

  2. Click on download to download the ica32pkg.msi.
  3. Save it on your desktop.
  4. Go to your desktop and double-click on ica32pkg.msi to run it.
  5. Follow the on screen instructions to complete the installation.
  6. Once the installation is complete, go back to your browser and click on Successful.

B.  How to connect using Mac OS X

  1. Login to webacadlabs.yorku.ca via Safari or Firefox.
  2. When prompted to detect the client, click on "Detect Client."
  3. Follow the on screen instructions to download and install the ICA client.
  4. Follow the on screen instructions to complete the installation.
  5. Once the installation is complete, click on Successful.

How to connect using Linux/Unix

  1. Login to webacadlabs.yorku.ca via Firefox.
  2. When prompted to detect the client, click on "Detect Client."
  3. Follow the on screen instructions to download and install the ICA client.
  4. Follow the on screen instructions to complete the installation.
  5. Once the installation is complete, click on Successful.
    Note:  After the installation, Firefox will continue to complain about the Citrix client.  Simply ignore it and start launching applications.

Launching Applications for WebAcadlabs

  1. Click on the desired application to launch it within the ICA client.
  2. If you are prompted with "Client file security" select Full Access to see your local resources in the session; then, select  Never ask me again to disable the prompt and prevent it from appearing in the future.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  1. I have installed the ICA client but it still isn't being detected by Firefox.

    This can happen if Firefox was installed by another administrator of the system.  To rectify this issue please re-install Firefox and the ICA client.


  2. How do I un-install the ICA client?

    Windows:
    Use the Add/Remove programs to uninstall the Citrix ICA client.

    MAC OS X
    Delete the Citrix ICA folder under Applications.
     
  3. Is there a limit to the number of concurrent connections?

    There is a limit of 50 concurrent connections. If there is no available connection, you will get the error message: "The client could not establish a connection to the remote computer." followed by a  possible reason: "The Maximum number of connections was exceeded at the remote computer."
     
  4. Is there a time limit on my connection?

    Your connection will timeout after six hours and you will automatically be logged out .  Any unsaved work will be lost.
     
  5. How long before an idle connection  times-out?

    You will be logged out automatically if your session has been idle for 30 minutes. Any unsaved work will be lost.
     
  6. Why am I unable to connect to WebAcadlabs with the Terminal Services client?

    WebAcadlabs does not support Terminal Services anymore. Please proceed to the WebAcadlabs login page and download/install the ICA client when prompted.

  7. Can I work on a file that is on my home computer using WebAcadlabs?

    You will have to move files from your home computer to your personal file storage area (DriveF) using Labfiles before you can use those
    files on WebAcadlabs.
