Space Administration

Building Records
Facilities Planning maintains a building records archive and space database for all campus facilities. The records include the following:

  • Original construction plans and specifications.
  • Up-to-date electronic floor plans for all buildings.
  • Plans of renovations and alterations.
  • Locations of buried utilities such as electrical lines, storm and sanitary sewer pipes, water lines, natural gas lines, communications (telephone and internet) cables, and irrigation systems.

Space Management
Facilities Planning maintains a space database of all areas, on and off campus, occupied by the University. Each space is assigned a use code based on the Council of Ontario Universities Building Blocks Users Guide.

This information forms the basis of planning studies, and department space use analyses and forms the foundation of the triennial province wide space inventory coordinated by the Council of Ontario Universities (COU).

Information in the space database is organized by building name and number, by floor, by room and current COU use code. It includes room and building areas in metric and imperial measurements.
