Consultation and Ad Hoc Services
In addition to the major events listed on our Faculty Programs page, CST provides a variety of consultation and ad hoc services such as those listed below. To inquire about any of these services, or any other assistance you think we might be able to offer, please send email to us at CST.
Teaching and Technology Consultation
If you have any questions about the use of technology in teaching, you are welcome to start by asking us at CST. The CST chairs the Technology-Enhanced Learning Coordinating Committee, comprised of representatives from the various technology support units and faculties on campus who meet regularly to discuss issues and resource planning with respect to the use of technology in teaching. Our role in TELCC allows us to set up effective interactions between instructors and technology support personnel. For information on the use of technology in your teaching, please contact Cheryl Dickie, Educational Development Coordinator.
Discipline-Specific Teaching Development Initiatives
The CST works with Faculties and individual departments and units to develop programs that focus on specific needs and specific teaching problems. This has included programming such as assisting in standardization of assessment methods within a department and assisting departments to incorporate the Ontario Council of Academic Vice-Presidents (OCAV) Degree Level Expecations into their curriculum planning process. For further information please contact the CST.
Individual Consultation & Feedback on Teaching
The CST provides a comprehensive consulting service to faculty and teaching assistants who seek feedback on their teaching. Feedback on teaching is confidential and may take a variety of forms such as participation in a videotaped "micro-teaching" session, or arranging for classroom observation or student focus group discussion with CST personnel or other colleagues.
Support for Classroom Research
The university classroom is a fertile ground for research, offering countless possibilities to instructors seeking new understandings of the teaching and learning process. The CST is eager to assist faculty in developing classroom research projects and can help you to make appropriate contacts within the university to ensure that your research project is well-supported.
