Program Description

The New Faculty Teaching at York Summer Institute (NFTY) will help you get your courses off to a smooth start. The Institute will introduce you to instructional and assessment practices that enhance students' learning and experiences in large and small classes. You will be able to practice and get feedback on your teaching in a collegial environment. In addition, you will meet new and experienced colleagues, which past participants have found especially helpful.

Goals

The goal of the program is to provide a practical introduction to the context and resources of teaching and learning at York by:

  • Enhancing participants' pedagogical skills and understanding
  • Expanding participants repertoires of teaching and assessment methods
  • Developing a foundation for effective planning and analysis of teaching and learning, informed by principles and evidence from the literature and experience

Who is eligible?

The NFTY program is open to full-time faculty in the first three years of their appointment to York. If you are not eligible for NFTY, please join us for the Course Design Insititute instead.
