The graded feedback deadline is determined by the last date for students to drop a course without receiving a grade; these dates are set by the Office of the Registrar. For Fall term courses, the graded feedback deadline is November 11, 2011.

Senate Policy on the Limits on the Worth of Examinations in the Final Classes of a Term:

No examinations or tests collectively worth more than 20% of the final grade in a course will be given during the final 14 calendar days of classes in a term. The exceptions to the rule are classes which regularly meet Friday evenings or on Saturday and/or Sunday at any time, and courses offered in the compressed summer terms.

The information in this tutorial is applicable for all subject and research areas and any level of study. Turnitin.com: Text Matching (Turnitin) for Instructors:

Text-matching software, such as Turnitin, can be used to detect plagiarism by assisting instructors to determine the percentage of text from a student assignment that matches text from: Student papers previously submitted to Turnitin; Similar material submitted to public web sites; Journal articles, periodicals and commercial databases.

Outlines the process by which students may submit petitions of the following types:
Academic standing regulation waived; Add course(s) past the published deadline(s);
Course overload; Deferred standing; Degree requirements waived or altered;
Drop course(s) past the published deadline(s); Exemption from the deadline to submit a request for a grade reappraisal; Exemption from the deadline to submit a petition for deferred standing; Re-entry to the Faculty of Education; Request for a second stop-out year in the Faculty of Education.

Students may, with sufficient academic grounds, request that a final grade in a course be reappraised (which may mean the review of specific pieces of tangible work). This page outlines the procedure for student submissions and the Department’s role and responsibilities.

Governance at York: York University Secretariat

York University has a bicameral governance system comprised of the two bodies of Senate and the Board of Governors. The Senate is responsible for the academic policy of the University, and the Board of Governors for the administrative management of the institution. A full description of the role and powers of each is set out in the Powers of the Constituent Governing Elements of the York University. The University Secretariat administers the governance of the University by supporting these two bodies. The Secretariat also maintains the corporate records of the University and administers the licensing of the University's names and marks.
