OECD Tourism Committee Rome conference
This conference was held in Rome in October of 1997. The theme was Partners in Tourism: A tool for job creation.
OAS Inter-American Travel Congress April 1997
This conference took place in Costa Rica. The theme was Partnership for the Sustainable Development of Tourism, and involved the OAS and MIGA of the World Bank Group.
Ethics in Tourism internet conference
This conference will be ongoing from January 31 - April 31, 1998. It is sponsored by the International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management.
Online International Ecotourism Conference
This online conference was organized by the Centre for Nature and Heritage Tourism at SouthWest Texas State University and took place from March 3 to April 5, 1997.
Pata conference on Integrating Indigenous Cultures in Nature-Based Tourism
From January 12-15 the Pacific Asia Travel Association hosted its 9th Adventure Tourism and Travel Mart in Malaysia on the topic of indigenous cultures.
Ecotourism Conference in Kenya
The first ever international ecotourism conference and workshop was held in Kenya from Oct. 27 - Nov. 3, 1997.
Intergovernmental Meeting on Tourism

World Ecotour '97 Conference
This Conference was held in Brazil in December of 1997. This page is only available in Portuguese (despite the English title of the conference). I had tried to find out more about the conference months in advance, but received no response from its organizers.
International Conference "Ecotourism - Balancing Sustainability and Profitability"
This conference was held in Estonia and focused on Central and Eastern Europe and Baltic Sea region. The site provides pre-conference materials and outputs of the conference.
First World Conference on Sustainable Tourism April, 1995(?)
This site describes the conference that took places on Lanzerote Island in 1995 (although the date is not clear). The conference was attended by the UNEP, UNESCO and the WTO.
