One of our missions at the Department of Occupational Health and Safety (DOHS) is to enable you to work in a healthy and safe environment. To help us achieve this goal, you may be required to take some of the training courses we have listed below. Please contact your supervisor or your Department Health and Safety Officer to discuss your training needs.

| If you have been hired as a supervisor¹, you must attend the Occupational Health and Safety Act training. Under the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act, sec. 25(2)(c) and sec. 1(1), it states that all supervisors should be familiar with the OHS Act. Please contact us at extension 55491 for registration or if you have any questions. Training organized by the Department of Occupational Health and Safety (DOHS) is free of charge for York employees except for material cost (e.g. manuals). For departments that organize their own training and require the service of a DOHS trainer, the relevant department will be responsible for booking the training facility and providing all training equipment. ¹ "supervisor" means a person who has charge of a workplace or authority over a worker (R.S.O., 1990, c.o.1 as amended). |
