Heterochromatic Flicker Photometry

The reference and test fields are temporally superimposed and alternated at a frequency such that when the fields are approximately equal in luminance the perceived flicker is near threshold.

The observer's task in heterochromatic flicker photometry is to adjust the brightness of the variable test field until the flicker caused by the alternating fields is reduced to a minimum.
