When projects start to get involved and large, there are a few techniques that can help both the organiztion and performance of a Director work.

Multiple Movies

When things get big and complicated, it can help to separate things into to different movie files.

The commands:

go to movie "new movie"

go to "a marker" of movie "new movie"
will open a new movie. If the stage is the same size, the user will have no idea a different movie is playing. This allows you to divide your work into workable chunks.

Multiple Casts

When movies get large an complicated, the number of cast members gets large. You can create new casts by going to the New Cast item in the file menu.

There are two types of casts: internal and external. Internal casts are to be used in one movie only but external casts can be shared by many movies. With external casts, the cast becomes a file that can be opened in another movie.
