UN Special Rapporteur on the human rights situation in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and Professor of Law at Chulalongkorn University, Thailand, Vitit Muntarbhorn was co-chair of the experts’ meeting developing The Yogyakarta Principles. The Yogyakarta Principles on the Application of International Human Rights Law in Relation to Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity were released in 2007.
Vitit Muntarbhorn has earned great recognition for his expertise in human rights, and in 2004 he was awarded the UNESCO Prize for Human Rights Education.
