File Access Service (FAS) is required to use the FES computer labs. Please note that only FES students, staff and faculty members, and non-FES students registered in FES courses are given access to FES computer Labs.
Passport York account is required to use File Access Service (FAS).
IMPORTANT NOTE: Beginning February 8th, students, staff and faculty can simply reset their Passport York password using Manage My Services , and then use their Passport York login to access all File Access Services (FAS) – workstation, lab and Library computers, Maximo, etc., formerly accessed through a FAS account. Going forward, you will no longer need a FAS account.
For any questions or concerns regarding computer access in the FES Computer Labs, please contact the FES Help Desk.
If you need to use an FES computer to set up your account
All FES computers have an “Express” option that can be used to access FES/York University websites only. To use this option, enter username: express and login: express. For detailed instructions, please contact the FES Help Desk.
Disk space
FAS computer access comes with private disk space in the form of a home network directory (F: drive for students, X: drive for faculty & staff) where you can save your files. When working on FES computers, be sure to save your files in this directory and not in another location, or else your work will be lost.
Each undergraduate student is granted 50MB of disk space every year.
Each graduate student is granted 100MB of disk space for the duration of their program of study.
Due to the possibility of computer error, we strongly recommend that you create backup copies of all essential files using disks, CDs or USB flash drives. The Faculty is not responsible for lost work.
