Graduate Fellowship for Academic Distinction

Purpose

The Graduate Fellowships for Academic Distinction are awarded to incoming students with high potential for future leadership in international affairs. You are eligible for these awards if you will be engaged in research in the Social Science aspects of environmental protection, Canada as a pacific nation, or political economy.

Eligibility

Awards may be held only by full-time graduate students registered at York University. The Fellowship may not be held concurrently with any other major award. Fellows may not accept additional employment during the duration of the award.

Duration of the award

For Master's students:

Awards are for one year with the option of renewal for a second year. To retain the award for a second year, fellows must provide evidence of satisfactory progress and be willing to meet with members of the Management Committee. There are a maximum of five fellowships each year including those renewed for a further year.

Value of award

Fellowships include a scholarship ($5,000 for Master's students; $10,000 for Doctoral students), a graduate assistantship valued at $7,000, and all tuition fees.

Deadline

The MES or PhD Subcommittee will contact strong candidates to apply for the award in late winter/early spring.
