Purpose
The Jim MacNeill Award is named in honour of Jim NacNeill's outstanding contribution to promoting sustainable development. This award supports incoming MES/LLB students in the Faculty of Environmental Studies. The joint MES/LLB program was established in 1974 to encourage the integration of these two critical fields: environmental studies and law. Recipients are selected based on their financial need and their highest combination of GPA and LSAT scores. Candidates must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents and Ontario residents.
Eligibility
This award is open to incoming students accepting offers of admission to the MES/LLB joint program in the Faculty of Environmental Studies, York University.
Criteria
- Be a Canadian citizen permanent resident;
- be an Ontario resident;
- demonstrate financial need on a bursary application;
- be an incoming FES student accepting offer of admission to the MES/LLB joint program;
- have an exceptional academic record demonstrated through the combination of the student's GPA and LSAT scores.
Selection process
Applications will be adjudicated by the MES/LLB Program Subcommittee and recommended to the Research and Awards Committee for the final decision on the award.
