For newly admitted BES students entering Year 1

Congratulations on your acceptance into the Bachelor in Environmental Studies (BES) program! Part of your University experience will include managing the academic and administrative requirements for completing your degree – including making advising appointments, enrolling in courses, paying your fees, and so on. We hope the information below will help make this process as easy as possible.

I’ve just been admitted! What do I do?

Your Offer of Admission letter has the deadline for accepting your offer of admission and booking your enrolment appointment. You must follow the instructions in the letter and do BOTH of these things before the deadline – otherwise you risk losing your place in the program and your admission to the University.

At your advising and enrolment appointment, you will receive detailed information regarding the BES program and your first year course requirements. Be sure to review the information mailed to you before the session so that you can address any questions or concerns you may have.

Visit York’s RED Zone before or after your Enrolment Appointment or on another day of your choosing to do the many important tasks you need to complete before you start classes, including:

  • Get your YU-card, York’s student photo identification card
  • Browse our Learning Skills Workshops online and take away great tips for using your summer to prepare for university.
  • Discover York’s many on-campus job opportunity

These are only a few things you can address at the RED Zone – for more information, visit the RED Zone website.

IMPORTANT: you must pay your $450 enrolment deposit within five business days of enrolling in your courses (see Register by Paying Your Enrolment Deposit) to secure your place in the courses you have chosen or you will be de-enrolled. If you are de-enrolled you will be required to re-enroll in your courses and there is no guarantee that spaces will still be available in the course you enrolled in previously. Please note the $450 enrolment deposit will be applied towards your total tuition costs.
