Advisor

As an incoming MES student, you will be appointed an Advisor – an FES professor familiar with your substantive area of research interest. This Advisor will guide you through the creation and development of your Plan of Study and, if needed, assist you in identifying potential Supervisors.

Supervisor

As part of your Plan of Study, you will identify and arrange for a professor to be the Supervisor for your Major Paper/Project/Portfolio/Thesis (MES III work). Many Supervisors are FES faculty members, but your Supervisor may also be a faculty member from another program at York, or even someone outside York. However, all Supervisors from outside FES must be approved by the Graduate Program Director. If appropriate, your Advisor can also be your Supervisor. If this is the case, a second FES faculty member will need to be present at your MES II-III Exam.
