Mission statement

The Finance Department holds fiduciary responsibility for this institution and provides a wide range of professional financial services, including: procurement, cash management, budget planning, accounting, reporting and risk management. The Information Technology Services group provides information technology support and services to the Finance Division. Our customers include the York University community, and external public and private sector entities.

Through our management practices we strive to create a working environment that enables us to use our skills and talents to best serve our customers. The Finance Department staff is aware, and shares the organizations' dedication to customer satisfaction.

The Finance Department regularly reviews its practices in an effort to continually improve our services by focusing on customers while addressing the needs of all stakeholders, including compliance with existing legal and regulatory requirements.


Vision and Objectives

  • To improve the management of the Finance Department in order to achieve our mission
  • To review and improve standard processes for core business processes, planning and project management to ensure consistent, reliable, accurate and available data/services
  • To foster a service culture which will result in consistency of service to our community
  • To foster and develop an environment within the Finance Department , that promotes an integrated approach to management which is collegial , creative and collaborative.

  • Information on the 2012-2013 BUDGET CALL

    2012-13 Budget Call Deadline Further Extension:
    The current projected budget cut in the range of 3- 3.5% will be discussed at the Board Finance meeting on May 28. As a result, the Budget Call deadline which had originally been scheduled to be due on May 25th will be extended to June 15, 2012. Official notification of the budget cut will be
    confirmed on May 29, 2012.
