Accounts Payable
The primary responsibility of the Accounts Payable department is ensure all payments to vendors are in compliance with University policies.

Financial Reporting
The Financial Reporting Department is responsible for the overall internal and external financial reporting.

Expense and Travel
This newly created department is responsible for the timely processing of employee and research institutions for reimbursement of expenses and accountable advances.

General Accounting
General Accounting is responsible for account reconciliation for general University receivables, GL journal entries, bank deposits and cash handling.

Insurance and Risk Management Services
Insurance and Risk Management Services strives to improve the quality of the York University experience for our faculty, staff and students while reducing the cost of operating and insurance-related expenses.

The departments objectives are to protect the assets of York University, provide a safe and secure environment for faculty, staff and students, and to preserve the reputation of York University

Research Accounting
Research Accounting's mandate is to work in partnership with York's research community in the post-award financial administration and reporting of its grants and contracts. Research Accounting provides quality financial services including monitoring research grants and contracts for compliance with York University policies and granting agency rules, providing financial analyses, advise and external financial reporting for the research community.

Research Accounting is responsible for the following:

  • Setting up of Internal and External Cost Centres for Research Grants and Contracts
  • Communication to Researchers on Financial Status of grants and contracts
  • Providing advice and assistance on University policies, Granting Agency guidelines and eReports Financial System
  • Monitoring Variance Analysis of Research Grants and Contracts
  • Financial Reporting to Granting Agencies
  • Distribution and allocation of overhead and course releases to Faculties and Centres


Taxation Services
Taxation Services is responsible for the administration of Sales Taxes (Provincial Sales Tax & Goods and Services Tax. Responsibilities include: reporting and remitting of all sales taxes collected on behalf of the taxing authorities and review of relevant Provincial and Federal legislation relating to University operations. Completion of vendor tax exemption forms.
