Mission Statement

To facilitate and enhance innovative and effective business decisions and the attainment, utilization, and allocation of financial resources for academic, administrative, and research units by providing relevant and responsive financial and administrative services. Through our management practices we strive to create a working environment that enables us to use our skills and talents to best serve our customers.

The mission shall be accomplished within the standards of good business practices and compliance with policies and rules governing the University, and through a partnership between the academic and administrative personnel and the staff of Financial Services.

Vision and Objectives

As a valued member of the University community, our vision is to work to advance the University's commitment to excellence in the scholarly activities of teaching, discovering, preserving, and applying knowledge. We will strive to:

  • improve the management of the Finance Department in order to achieve our mission
  • review and improve standard processes for core financial business processes, planning, and project management to ensure consistent, reliable, accurate and available services
  • foster a service culture which will result in consistency of service to our community
  • foster and develop an environment within the Finance Department , that promotes an integrated approach to management which is collegial , creative and collaborative

The Financial Forecast submission for Fiscal 2014 is required by February 28, 2014. To register for training on the Financial Forecast Submission System click here.

At this time Research Accounting is planning its process for financial reporting for the period ending March 31, 2014, for all CIHR, SSHRC, Canada Research Chair (CRC) and NSERC grants. Other funding agencies may also have March 31 end dates. For Key Dates to Remember click here.

The year end for University operations is Wednesday, April 30, 2014. Click here to view the various cut-off dates for submission of information to Finance.


The deadline for the completion of the 2014-15 budgets is Wednesday, April 30, 2014.  The budget module used to prepare and load last year’s budget will be used again for the 2014-15 budget call.

York community members responsible for budgeting, who want to get a head start on the process, can start using the online spreadsheets now.  Actuals and commitments for 2013-14 are being updated nightly.

Financial Forecast Training - **NEW SESSIONS ADDED**A new financial forecast (data entry) submission process is now available to streamline your department forecast submissions. To register for training click here.
