Undergraduate Degree Programs
We offer two main degrees in dance at the undergraduate level:
Our Bachelor of Fine Arts degree (BFA Honours) combines a concentration in studio work such as technique, creative work, conditioning, and somatics with studies in dance production, dance history, teaching methodologies, dance writing, and dance science. Studio classes in Western concert dance forms such as modern and ballet are complemented by offerings in West African, Southeast Asian, East Indian, Afro-Cuban, and Chinese forms. Given the extensive and wide ranging areas of studies in this degree, BFA students may need to allow extra time to complete a double major.
Our Bachelor of Arts degree (BA Honours) integrates dance studies in history, creativity, dance writing, dance science, anthropology, cross-cultural research, and criticism with some physical practice in Western concert dance, West African, Southeast Asian, East Indian, Afro-Cuban, and Chinese forms. Frequently, BA students double major in a program outside Fine Arts, such as English, History, Anthropology, or Kinesiology.
