Gwen Dobie is a theatre director and choreographer and the founding artistic director of multidisciplinary drama, dance and opera company Out of the Box Productions.

Her credits include directing the Canadian premiere of the Danish opera On this Planet by Anders Nordendoft.  She has choreographed for the Phoenix Theatre at the University of Victoria and directed and choreographed for the Capitol Theatre in Nelson and at the Banff Centre for the Opera as Theatre program. She has also directed and choreographed for the Opera Studio at the Victoria Conservatory of Music, including the world premiere of the opera Eyes on the Mountain by composer Christopher Donison. 

Professor Dobie taught movement at the Banff Centre for the Arts, Victoria Conservatory of Music, Victoria Motion Picture School and the University of Victoria's Theatre Department before joining the Department of Theatre at York in 2007.
