Following completion of studies with the Professional Division at the School of the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, Claire Wootten danced professionally with the Alberta Ballet Company.  She is a graduate of the Teacher Training Program at the National Ballet School and has taught and adjudicated extensively throughout Canada.  She has taught at York University since 1990, joining the full-time faculty in the Department of Dance in 2004.  She is also a freelance rehearsal director.

Professor Wootten currently serves as Chair of the Department of Dance.
