The Counselling and Development Centre (CDC)
The Counselling and Development Centre offers personal counselling, group development workshops, learning skills training, time and academic stress management skills, and support for learning disabilities and psychiatric disabilities.

Fine Arts Student Ambassadors & Mentors (FASAM)
The FASAM Centre offers Fine Arts students support, encouragement and practical assistance through personalized peer mentoring. It is also a resource hub providing reference materials, referrals and advice for researching a wide variety of information, from quick internet tips to academic-related forms, job opportunities and much more.
The FASAM Centre is located in the lobby of the Joan & Martin Goldfarb Centre for Fine Arts. Drop in weekdays from 10am to 4pm during the academic session, or take advantage of e-advising via fasam@yorku.ca for queries, contact referrals, resource services, etc.
Learning Skills Program
If you wish to enhance your academic record, consider participating in York's Learning Skills Program. This program offers group workshops and individual counseling on the topics of reading, note taking, time management and preparing for exams.
Legal Aid
Osgoode Hall law students provide a legal aid clinic for York University students. CLASP (Community and Legal Aid Services Program) is located at Osgoode Hall Law School, and can be reached at 416.736.5029.
Office of the Ombudsperson
The Office of the Ombudsperson at York University is an impartial body of advisors, educators, investigators, mediators and problem solvers with a mandate to address and resolve concerns and complaints about:
- allegations of unfairness in a University policy, process or procedure.
- allegations of discrimination and/or harassment as defined by the Ontario Human Rights Code and York's human rights policies.
The office offers education services about human rights and administrative fairness with a view to advancing a culture actively seeking systemic change and ensuring fair process. The Office of the Ombudsperson may be reached at 416.736.5682 or at ombuds@yorku.ca.
Passport York
Passport York is York’s primary method of online authentication. Passport York determines which services you are able to access.
You must sign up for your Passport York username and password in order to log into York’s online services for students.
- If you are a new student and have not signed up for Passport York, the first time you go to an application that requires the Passport York log in, click on the button that says “New Student Sign Up!” and follow the steps as they are listed.
- If you have forgotten your Passport York username and password, click on any application that requires Passport York and then click on “Forgot your password or username?”.
Writing Department(CAW)
The Writing Department offers practical instruction in all aspects of academic writing. Specialized tutors are also available to work with ESL students, and students who have disabilities affecting language learning and language skills.

YU-card
The YU-card is York University’s official integrated photo ID card. While you are a student at York, the YU-card will be your key to important services such as the Library and the meal plan. The card is mandatory for all students.
