Organizations

 

Creative Arts Students' Association (CASA)
The Creative Arts Students' Association (CASA) is the student government of the Faculty of Fine Arts. An umbrella organization of the seven department student associations (Dance, Design, Film & Video, Fine Arts Cultural Studies, Music, Theatre and Visual Arts), CASA is run by, and for the benefit of, Fine Arts students. CASA's mandate includes development and sponsorship of services and activities for Fine Arts students, providing support for student projects in the creative arts, and promoting communication and understanding among members of the Faculty and between the Faculty and other organizations.

 

Faculty Council
Faculty Council is the academic decision-making and governing body of the Faculty. All full-time Fine Arts faculty members and some student representatives are voting members of Faculty Council, which maintains five Standing Committees: Academic Policy & Planning, Awards, Administrative Affairs, Arts & Technology, and Executive, which coordinates the activities of Faculty Council and its related committees. The committee level develops all legislation pertaining to the academic policy of the Faculty for approval by Council before submission to the University Senate.

 

Faculty/Student Assembly
The Faculty/Student Assembly is the main decision-making and governing body of the department. All full-time Visual Arts faculty members and some student representatives are voting members of Assembly. Various committees that deal with long-range planning and undergraduate academic issues carry out most activities of the Faculty/ Student Assembly. The Faculty/ Student Assembly may submit proposals to Faculty Council for approval.

 

Visual Arts Student Association (VASA)
The Visual Arts Student Association is the student government of Visual Arts, formed by class representatives to participate in the decision-making of the department. VASA nominates and elects students for key positions within Council and the Executive Committee or to represent the general student population on departmental committees, which enable you to be informed, and provide feedback on issues directly affecting you.
