Faculty of Education
York’s Faculty of Education emphasizes a unique interdisciplinary approach that creates conditions for rigorous intellectual inquiry and innovative thought. The first concurrent BEd program in Ontario was rolled out here in the early 1970s.
Our strong graduate program focuses on the study of language, culture and teaching, broadly defined. The faculty also offers highly respected professional development programs for approximately 5,500 educators each year. There are a variety of programs emphasizing diversity and inclusiveness, such as Jewish Teacher Education, Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Education as well as diploma programs in environmental sustainability, mathematics education and early childhood education.
The faculty’s strong international programs are effecting change in communities throughout the world through mutually beneficial exchanges and institutes.
