Rogers Cup Tennis

August 6-14, 2011

Rexall Centre, York University Keele Campus

The Rogers Cup Tennis tournament is a major, international event held in Toronto and Montreal each August. The men's and women's events alternate between the two cities, with the men playing in Toronto in even-numbered years and the women in odd-numbered years. In 2011, the women's event was held at the Rexall Centre on York's Keele campus and the men's at Stade Uniprix in Montreal.

Classified as a Premier 5 event by the Women's Tennis Association and a Masters 1,000 by the Association of Tennis Professionals, Rogers Cup attracts the brightest stars of tennis year after year. National Bank sponsors both the men's and women's tournaments.

Rogers Cup has been an important event for York since the University began hosting duties in 1976. The tournament not only provides an ideal opportunity for alumni and supporters to join York for a world-class sporting event, but adds to York's international profile through the extensive media coverage and campus visitors we receive. Special guests are also invited to participate in luncheons and receptions hosted by York throughout the event. York University Foundation board members, supporters and York alumni Bill Hatanaka and Maxwell Gotlieb are pictured with Paul Marcus, Foundation president & CEO, at a 2010 reception.

2010 Highlights

In 2010, more than 161,000 tennis fans packed the Rexall Centre for the men's event. Andy Murray proved victorious in the men's event, while in Montreal, Caroline Wozniacki captured the women's title.
