Samira Malakpour, College Administrative Coordinator
A heartfelt welcome to all students at York University, especially those affiliated with our favourite College - Founders!
Founders College holds a very special place in my heart. I walk into this building every morning feeling privileged and honoured to work on projects and initiatives that will enrich the student experience at Founders. To me, Founders emanates a spirit that is rooted in strength, stamina, and courage. Draw upon these wonderful qualities as you make your way through your educational journey here at York. It will enrich your experience not only as a University student, but as an adult facing challenging decisions every day.
I would like to share with you an inspiring quote from Bruce Lee. He stated: "The moment has no yesterday or tomorrow. It is not the result of thought and therefore has no time". I believe a lot can be learned from this statement. We must aim to enjoy the moment that is given to us and try to limit the anxieties and tensions that can arise from the unknown or the unfamiliar. Make good use of and enjoy the infinite resources York University and Founders College has to offer you.
My role as the Administrative Coordinator at Founders involves supervising the College in its administrative and financial functions. My role also consists of getting to know you - the students - and making sure that you are aware of what the College has to offer you. I encourage you to come out to the events and initiatives that we organize and to fully engage in College life. Remember that this is also a part of your education and learning experience at York.
I look forward to meeting you all. Feel free to drop by my office anytime for questions, concerns, or just to say hello.
My best wishes to you for an extraordinary year!

I am excited about coming back to York (this time as staff) and using the skills and experiences I have obtained to contribute to the student experience at Founders. There is a lot of history in this building. My goal is to make past meet present and welcome the future".
