Founders College Orientation 2014



We encourage you to participate in York Orientation Week which includes your College Academic Orientation session and Social Orientation events.

Founders College Academic Orientation sessions will be held from September 3rd and 4th and are organized according to your program of study.  During your session, you will be introduced to the tools you need to excel in you studies at York. 

You will meet professors from your academic program, be introduced to the College Master and the Master's Office team, meet members of Founders College Student Council, and learn about Founders College Programs including: Peer Mentoring, College Life Advising, Employment and Volunteer Opportunities and more.

The College Life & Academic Orientation sessions and Social Orientation events are designed to help you make a smooth transition to University life. We will introduce you to academic services, social and recreational activities and other facilities available to you, both at Founders and throughout the university. We will help you make connections.

To register for your Academic Orientation session, find your program from the list below and click on the corresponding Session to register.

Location: Founders College 305 (Senior Common Room) Building 50 on Map

Cost: All sessions are free (breakfast and lunch are provided); however, you are responsible for parking.

Founders College and Founders College Student Council will provide lunch for all incoming Founders students each day from 12:00pm to 1:00pm.

Parent & Family Orientation

York University’s Parent & Family Orientation Program will be held on Monday September 1st, starting at 10:00am in the Lassonde Building Lecture Hall A (building 19 on the campus map). Learn how you and your son/daughter or family member can smoothly transition into university life. This comprehensive, half-day session will include a welcome from President Dr. Mamdouh Shoukri and provide relevant information about York's student services.

Founders College is hosting a Founders College specific Parent & Family Orientation on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at 5:00pm in the Senior Common Room (FC 305).   Parents are invited to attend to meet the College Master, College Life Coordinator, Master’s Office staff and members of Founders College Student Council; ask questions, learn about the College, the programs and resources available to Founders College students.

Social Orientation

Founders College Student Council is proud to present our Founders Orientation Week 2014: Founders Goes Back to the 90s

Founders Social Orientation Week will be held from Monday, September 1 to Sunday, September 7, 2014.  Planned especially for incoming students, Founders O-Week is week full of opportunities to meet new people and create lasting friendships; a week full of good times, good people and good fun! 

We have an exciting line-up of events for you this year.  Some of the events we have planned are:  BBQs, tours around York University, a York-Wide Carnival, a York Lions Football game, and from the sandy beaches of Woodbine to our grand finale, an unforgettable Boat Cruise on Toronto’s Harbourfront in addition to many more events! 

Here is your opportunity to get involved, meet new friends, and become part of the Founders community.  Please feel free to contact FCSC ( or 416-736-2100 x 22208) about anything you wish to know. You are officially part of the family now.  Do not miss out on the most exciting and memorable week of your life!  After all, you are only a First-year once

International Students Orientation

As the central support to international students at York University, York International (YI) is looking forward to welcoming Founders College international students!

York International will be offering a special International Student Orientation Session to address the unique needs of international students. At this session international students will:

  • Receive crucial information about immigration requirements for international students
  • Learn about the mandatory University Health Insurance Plan (UHIP)
  • Have the opportunity to make lasting friends with international peers who will assist with adaptation to the new academic environment
  • Learn about safety and security at York University.
