The CLAY program provides on campus part-time job opportunities for eligible full-time York University students. These jobs are primarily available during the September to April academic session; although a limited number of jobs are also available in summer to students who will be continuing their studies in the following fall/winter term.
Advantages to students:
- Receive financial assistance to meet educational costs (tuition, mandatory fees, and textbooks)
- Gain valuable work experience that will help develop your skills
- Networking with staff, faculty and other students
- Get a preview of what it is like to work in an office environment
- Receive mentoring and guidance from staff, Founders students, and College Fellows
Through the CLAY program, paid opportunities are created to encourage learning with faculty, staff and/or fellow students.
The Founders College Masterís Office employs up to 11 students per academic year in the CLAY program, as well as 2 students in the summer term.
CLAY Positions Defined
The CLAY program allows students to acquire skills and knowledge to prepare them for the working world while providing services to fellow students through the college system. Some examples of past CLAY positions at Founders include:
- Academic Resource Advisor
- Promotions Coordinator
- Student Club and Academic Coordinator
- Events Coordinator
This funding is intended to help students in financial need to meet their educational expenses by providing part-time employment opportunities during the academic year. These student jobs are funded on a cost-sharing basis: 75 per cent by the provincial government and 25 per cent by the hiring unit. At York, Student Financial Services is responsible for managing this program.
