PROF. GINO G. LAVOIE

Welcome to my research webpage. My research group develops new catalysts to address ongoing challenges faced by the polymer industry, with a focus on polyolefins and more recently, on polylactides.

The performance of the catalysts is tailored by the thoughtful design of highly modular ligands. These building blocks allow for the synthesis of libraries of ligands with a wide range of the steric and electronic parameters.

Our synthetic expertise, coupled with insight from computational chemistry, allows us to better understand critical features for optimal catalyst performance. Students in my group thus develop expertise in inorganic/coordination chemistry, catalysis, organic chemistry, polymer chemistry and computational chemistry.
