Who We Are

goSAFE is a complimentary service provided by York University to help students, faculty, staff and their guests safely get from one on-campus location to another.

goSAFE is staffed entirely by York University students, and are easily identifiable in their bright red vests. Staff members always work in pairs, and act as the ‘eyes and ears’ of York Security Services when on duty around campus, reporting anything suspicious they encounter. goSAFE works to pro-actively assist in maintaining a safe and secure environment on campus.

goSAFE is also one of the largest employers of students on-campus – we offer part-time employment at both the Glendon and Keele campuses with varying shifts, 7 days per week – for more information, including our current hiring status, please check the Employment Opportunities section on the goSAFE web site.

What We Do

goSAFE staff members, by request, will walk you to and from any on-campus location, such as any of the Campus Shuttle on-campus pick-up / drop-off locations, parking lots, bus stops or residences. Upon request goSAFE staff will gladly wait with you until your bus or transportation arrives or your car starts, and are generally available to meet you at your desired pick-up location within 10 minutes.

In addition to providing foot escorts, goSAFE staff also conduct weekly audits of all of the on-campus exterior lighting, and all on-campus Emergency, Elevator and Safety phones, reporting any malfunctions as they are encountered for repair.

How To Reach Us

goSAFE is available anytime during operation hours:

Keele Campus: 6:00pm to 2:00am (Sept to Apr), 8:00pm to 2:00am (Summer)
Glendon Campus: 6:00pm to 1:00am (Sept to Apr)

To request someone to walk with you, please contact goSAFE through one of the following methods:

            - By dialing 416-736-5454 (or extension 55454)
            - By using any of the Blue Light Emergency Phones
            - By Payphone on campus (it’s free!)
            - By the goSAFE button on any campus Safety phone

Someone will answer your call and request your name, desired pick-up location and destination. goSAFE staff will immediately be sent to meet you, with a typical wait time of no more than 10 minutes.

Evening Village Shuttle Service

The University is pleased to announce that the Campus Shuttle service, offering service to the off-campus housing areas to the south the Keele Campus, is being expanded to better service the community living in the Village. The new shuttles are due to commence on Tuesday September 6, 2011 – more information, such as routes, stops and schedules are available on the Off-Campus Shuttles page.
