The Graduate Program in Social Anthropology has received notification from the Ontario Council of Graduate Studies (OCGS) that the MA/PhD program has approved the Appraisal Committee's recommendation of 'Good
Quality'. This is the highest possible rating bestowed by OCGS!

Congratulations to Mary Jean Hande (MA Candidate) who has had her work published in Somatosphere a highly read on-line site for neuro, medical and science and technology studies. "From Narrowed Veins to Liberation: An Anthropological Analysis of the Canadian Liberation Therapy Movement". Congratulations to Wangui Kimari (PhD Candidate) who has been successful in her application for the position of volunteer for the 6th African Evaluation Conference held in Accra, Ghana January 9 - 13, 2012. Congratulations to Karen O’Connor (PhD Candidate) whose article “Sexual Violence and the Creation of a Postcolonial Ordinary: Engagements Between Street-Based Sex Workers and the Police in Machala, Ecuador” has just been published in the edited volume Lumpencity: Discourses of Marginality \| Marginalizing Discourses http://www.redquillbooks.com/Lumpencity.html.
