ELECTIVE LEAVE OF ABSENCE
All Masters students’ have the option of one term of elective leave during the time of their study. This option is usually exercised during the summer term of the first year of study. Please see the Graduate Program Assistant for further details.
LEAVE OF ABSENCE OR WITHDRAWAL FROM PROGRAM
Students who are on a leave of absence or who have withdrawn from the University will not be allowed access to their Supervisor or any member of their Supervisory Committee during the time of their leave.
PETITIONS
Petitions can be initiated through the Graduate Program Assistant. Forms are available in the Graduate Program Office and the Graduate Program Assistant will assist with the completion of these forms. We encourage an "open door" policy in our Graduate Department, so please do not hesitate to call or visit the office at any time.
LEAVING THE TORONTO AREA
Any student who intends to leave the Toronto Area for a period of more than four weeks must petition for permission to do so. Permanently leaving the Toronto Area before completion of the thesis is strongly discouraged. The student's Supervisory Committee must be notified and a suitable mode and schedule of communication and consultation must be mutually agreed upon.
ACADEMIC PROGRESS
Graduate students are expected to make appropriate academic progress in each term of the program. Failure to do so will result in a warning. Students who repeatedly fail to make academic progress without adequate reason will be asked to leave the program.
PUNCTUALITY AND ATTENDANCE
It is expected that Graduate Students will arrive punctually and attend all classes. The final grade in any graduate course can be adjusted +/- 15% for failure to comply with this regulation.
