York University boasts some of the best resources and facilities in the country, including numerous libraries and research/resource centres, computing services and production facilities. Graduate Program in Film, Studio Facilities and Equipment
Students enrolled in Production courses have access to a wide range of specialized facilities and resources including:

The department’s facilities are located in Canada’s largest dedicated film & theatre teaching complex, the Centre for Film & Theatre at York University.
Scott Library
This is the largest of York's many libraries. It contains thousands of books, journals, periodicals, and other documents, including a very large collection pertaining to Film & Video and the other Fine Arts.
Sound and Moving Image Library
Audio and visual materials are housed together within the Scott Library complex. Award-winning film and video bibliographer Kathryn Elder and her staff are an invaluable source of information.
Other libraries at York include Steacie Science, Archives and Special Collections, Law, Administrative Studies/Government Documents, and the Nellie Langford Rowell Centre (Women's Studies Library). Inter-university loans, extended loan privileges, and library computing services are just a few of the many library services available to assist students with their research.
The Film Reference Library (of the Toronto International Film Festival Group), the Art Gallery of Ontario and the Metropolitan Toronto Reference Library are also excellent sources for student research.
Students may benefit from the many research centres established at York University. Some of these include the Centre for Jewish Studies, the Centre for Research in Latin-America & the Caribbean, the Centre for Refugee Studies, the Centre for Feminist Studies, the Centre for Health Studies and the Robarts Centre for Canadian Studies.
Graduate Students Association
The GSA is the representative student organization for the graduate population at York. The GSA has made low-cost extended health coverage available to all graduate students, as well as a number of grants and funds to which graduate students may apply. The GSA represents graduate students at Senate and numerous other Faculty of Graduate Studies committees. The GSA produces a handbook annually which will be available early in the fall term. The handbook contains a wealth of useful information regarding York and the surrounding area. Please visit the GSA Offices at Suite 325, Student Centre Complex.
Students must set up a York email account for all departmental emails. This can be done online or in person by visiting the Computing Commons at the William Small Centre.NOTE: All official communications from the Faculty of Graduate Studies, the Graduate Program Offices, or any other University office will only be sent to official York University e-mail addresses. If a graduate student misses information because he/she has not yet opened up a York University e-mail account, the responsibility will rest with the student. Students will be expected to check their York account on a regular basis for official communications.
Computers
A computer with internet connection is available for student use in the Student Lounge (CFT 201). Note: this computer does not include a printer.
