Admissions Requirements
Graduates with a four-year first degree after senior matriculation or an Honours degree from a recognized university, or with equivalent qualifications, and with at least a B (second class) standing will be considered for admission as Candidates for the M.A. or M.Sc. degree.
The usual prerequisite for admission to the Ph.D. program in Geography is a Master's degree in Geography with at least a B+ average. However, the Graduate Program in Geography will consider exceptional students with a Master's degree in other fields.
Applicants to the Doctoral Program should note that we offer a PhD degree in two fields of specialization:
(1) Critical Human Geography
(2) Biophysical Processes
The Masters Degree is offered in all major fields of Geography.
Application Information
Applications for admission in September 2012 should be submitted by February 15, 2012. Applications received after this date will be considered in the order in which they are received until May 15, or until all places have been filled.
The Graduate Program in Geography does not admit students without a designated supervisor and so applicants are encouraged to identify appropriate faculty members in their Statement of Interest (and, where possible, contact faculty members in advance of their application). If you are unsure which faculty member fits with your own research interests, contact the Graduate Program office:
