Graduate Program in History

How to Apply

Master's program

For the Master's program in History, the basic admissions requirement is usually an Honours BA or equivalent with a B+ standing from a recognized university preferably with a concentration or honours in History. An undergraduate major presupposes at least five full-year courses (or equivalent) in History. Meeting these criteria does not guarantee admission.

Doctoral program

For the doctoral program in History, the basic admissions requirement is a Master's degree or equivalent in History from a recognized university. Meeting these criteria does not guarantee admission.

Applicants for both the Master's program and the doctoral program without a History background should consult with the Graduate program in History.

Admission Procedures

Interested applicants should obtain the Graduate Admission Package for History from

http://futurestudents.yorku.ca/graduate/programs/history

The deadline for applications is January 16, 2013 for entry beginning in September of 2013. Applications are then considered by the Graduate program's Admissions Committee. Decisions on applications are usually announced in early March, but there are no hard and fast rules about the process.
