   Core Courses - graduate program in health

 

The core courses are intended to ensure that students have a common basic understanding of the different aspects of health studies.   (Note:  Not all of these courses are offered in every academic year.)

   Field specific courses in Health Policy & Equity

 

All MA and PhD students take a minimum of two out of three of the following core Policy and Equity courses.  These courses prepare students for their comprehensive examinations.   (Note:  Not all of these courses are offered in every academic year.)

   Electives Offered by the graduate program in health

Electives selection will be done in consultation with the student's advisor.  This will ensure that students take electives that are most suitable to their academic needs. 

Masters students are required to complete one 3.0 credit course from among the field's electives.   Under special circumstances, MA students may take one 3.0 credit course from other graduate programs to fulfill their elective requirement with the Program Director's approval.

Direct-entry PhD students are required to complete four 3.0 credit electives:  (1) two of the electives must be within their field’s offerings and, (2) two may be from other graduate programs to fulfill their elective requirement with the Program Director's approval. 

PhD students entering with a Masters are required to complete three 3.0 credit electives:  (1) two of the electives must be from within their field's offerings and, (2) one must be from other graduate programs to fulfill their elective requirement with the Program Director's approval.

In keeping with the interdisciplinary nature of the program, PhD students may also take up to two 3.0 credit courses from other graduate programs to fulfill their elective requirements with the Program Director's approval.
